Fuck the Department of Licensing

Cost to take a driving test in Washington state: $20
Cost of taking a 90 minute driving lesson in Seattle: $95
Cost of renting a car for a driving exam: $190!

The way things are going, maybe god doesn't want me to drive! I booked for a driving test before Thanksgiving and turns out the only day they had available was the day right before coming back to HK! And not that I could change my ticket either.

After my last lesson my driving instructor took my $95 check with a big smily face, then went on to say very very casually:
"OK, so I'll pick you up Tuesday and remember to write a check to me for $170 before the driving test"
Me: "WHAT????" (Did I just hear wrong?)
Driver dude: "Oh, sorry, actually that's $190"

I nearly pissed in my pants at the prospect of having to shell out more than $200 just to take a driving test? How do all the poor get their driving licenses? Too bad no one I know in Seattle has the right insurance plan acceptable at the DOL.

Tuesday, I get to the DOL. My instructor turns out to be some stern faced, middle aged Vietnamese lady. DIU! I reognize her instantly. The same Vietnamese lady I paid my $20 to register for the driving test. The same lady that laughed at a Mexican lady standing in front of me for speaking bad English. The same lady who can barely speak English herself goddammit!

So the driving test. She tells me to pull over and park at one point. So I did just that. It's a pretty flat road, so I parked it the usual way. In Washington, the pass mark is 80. She gave me fucking 77. BITCH!!!!! Then she went on to tell me that I should've parked it like I was supposed to park it on a hill! Hey bitch, you never SAID that! Did that look like a "hill" to you? If I can put a basketball down on that stretch of road and it doesnt go in 1 direction, I'm pretty sure it's not a hill! Fucking white washed bitch! Learn to speak English before criticizing someone elses! Geez!

BTW, don't they hand out driver's licenses to just about anyone in Vietnam?
